Lu Jia Tang Through a rigorous system of national examinations, 12-year old Lu Tang has established herself as one of China's most promising pre-teen pianists.  In 2009, she became the first middle school student ever to be admitted to the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.  She is a member of the piano studio of Professor Zhang Jin, China's leading teacher of virtuoso pre-college pianists.
In October of 2009, she won the prestigious Kadan San first prize trophy, and in February of this year, Liu received an invitation from the Government of Singapore to perform on a special Young Person's Concert series.

Ke Ru Zhang A long list of prizes in international piano competitions is already a part of 15 year old Keru Zhang's resume.  Having begun piano at the age of 4, Keru made her recital debut one year later and at the age of 7, she won the gold medal in China's National Children's Piano Competition. In 2006, at the age of 11, she was invited to participate in a piano festival in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Her outstanding performances in the Chinese-American Piano Festival at the Sichuan Conservatory led to an invitation to perform in the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Germany in 2008,  at the age of 13.  Also in 2008, she won 4th prize in the Toyama Asian Music Festival in Japan, and then last year, she won first prize in China's National Teenagers Piano Competition.  Keru is a student of Zhang Jin at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.

Both pianists were selected for performances with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony by Music Director Marlan Carlson and Director of OSU Choral Studies Steve Zielke in a series of auditions last October at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.  The participation of these two young piano virtuosos in the Symphony season is part of the decade-old OSU Music/China Cultural and Educational Exchange program.  As part of that series, in February the 45-member Henan Opera Company will present performances of a classic Chinese opera in Salem and Corvallis.  In March of 2011, Dr. Zielke will lead the OSU Chamber Choir on a ten-day tour of 4 cities in China, including concerts at the Central Conservatory in Beijing, the Henan Province capital of Zhengzhou and at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu.
