Exceptional Classical Music in Corvallis

The Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra, directed by Marlan Carlson, OSU Endowed Chair for University Orchestras, is a highly-regarded, 110-member ensemble performing five major concerts each season plus an annual children's concert. High-profile soloists complement the musical artistry of students, faculty, and professional musicians from Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Corvallis. Choral music conducted by Steven Zielke, OSU Director of Choral Studies, is a treasured part of each holiday season.

The Symphony is part of a talented and creative community at the Oregon State University School of Arts and Communication that challenges students to develop the skills to become successful musicians and professional educators.

The Symphony also attracts many students who excel in engineering and sciences and wish to pursue their passion for classical music while conducting research alongside OSU's renowned scientists.

Whether you are a returning patron or will be hearing our symphony for the first time, you will be impressed. With its unique alliance of the University, City, and the region, we are proud to say the Corvallis-OSU Symphony is your orchestra.

Our History

As the longest continually-operating orchestra in the state, the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra is a major force in the music scene of the Willamette Valley. From its inception in 1906 as a collegiate orchestra composed of nine male members, the symphony has grown into a highly regarded, 110-member ensemble performing five major concerts each season. The concerts are affordable, and a bit of background information and education is usually provided for the audience.
